24x7 Learning has launched a first of its kind programme, Avagmah School of Leadership, that offers education opportunities to working professionals.
The programme is for employees who do not have a graduation degrees, and for those who want to pursue post-graduation from accredited universities in India.
Currently, the company has a tie-up with IMT Gaziabad and the first course would start from May this year. However, it is also in talks with other professional colleges in India and abroad for tie-ups.
While you wonder how it works, this is what the CEO has to explain. There is a tripartite agreement between us, the company and the student, explains founder-CEO KS Karthik.
Whats more, the students get the course at a much lower cost compared to those who are doing it through residential programmes. Sample this: An MBA degree from IMT Ghaziabad would cost Rs 80,000 through Avagmah, while the same can cost you upto Rs 3 lakh for a residential programme.
Currently, only 10 million people go for higher education among a pool of 232 million youths in the age group of 20 to 34, says Karthik, adding, The company will soon have a new retention strategy.
Many lectures in Avagmah courses will be of the size that can fit in a mobile phone memory. Students can store and listen to them later. They would be on the mpeg and mp3 formats, which means they could be stored as both audio and video.
The solution deployed would be able to accommodate over 10 million simultaneous log-ins. With customers like Accenture, Wipro, Satyam, and Convergys, the company has grown fast in the corporate training arena.
It is the biggest player in the segment and has also been conferred the Red Herring award for being one of the top 100 emerging companies in Asia. It has its own learning software, LearnTrak.
The Indian education market, worth over Rs 5,000 crore, is growing around 20% year-on-year, say analysts. Add to this $3 billion spent annually for foreign education.
The company has competition from Aptech, IBM and Blue Apple in India. But we are the only ones who are offering a programme like Avagmah which would be a proper university degree, says Karthik.
The first batch would start in mid-May this year.
