Assam inks MoU with Google to increase internet connectivity
GUWAHATI: BJP-led Assam government today inked an MoU with Google to increase the internet penetration in the state.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the MoU would be the latest addition to the arsenal of the state government to make technology-driven development a reality in the state.

The MoU would be used as a launch pad to materialise the government’s vision of women empowerment, skill development and universal education.

He said, with the help of this MoU with Google, the government would work to provide internet connection to 26,000 villages and 1,500 tea garden areas and increase digital literacy.

Chtean Krishnaswami, the Country Head (Policy) of Google India, attended the programme.
