ADAG gaming portal Zapak to go global soon

Site will be launched at Casual Connect, a global event being organised by Casual Games Association in Kiev, Ukraine.

PUNE: Zapak, a casual gaming portal of the Reliance ADAG, will go global through zapakworld.com, a website targeted at the worlds gamers. This is being launched in the Ukraine on Thursday, loaded with over 12,000 games in six languages.

The website will be launched at Casual Connect, a global event organised by the Casual Games Association, an international trade association of casual gaming professionals, being held in Kiev (Kyiv), the capital city of Ukraine, from October 22 to 24.

Zapak is also looking to expand into Brazil, Russia, Pakistan and China with dedicated casual gaming websites for these countries, Zapak COO Rohit Sharma told the ET.

Zapak.com is an India-focussed site, with the content, advergames and in-game advertising all being Indian. We were successful in opening up the Indian casual gaming market and we now want to take the brand global. Zapakworld.com will feature over 12,000 games in Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Hindi, English and French, he said.

We are at various stages of forming partnerships with media and gaming companies in Brazil, Russia and Pakistan. These countries have very similar trends in gaming, entertainment and Internet penetration. The gaming market in these countries is at a stage where it will explode in the coming years. Since our business model was successful in India, we believe it is the right time to go to these countries, Mr Sharma said. The game developer will aggregate most of the games on zapakworld.-com, a model followed by websites like indyarocks.com and in.com and social networking sites.
