Wipro's former COO Bhanumurthy Ballapuram joins Google Cloud

New Delhi: Wipro Ltd.’s former president and chief operating officer Bhanumurthy Ballapuram has joined Google Cloud as vice president of the Japan and Asia Pacific region. He will report to John Jester, Google's global vice president for customer experience based in the US.

Ballapuram’s appointment comes at a time the Alphabet Inc.-owned company is looking to compete better with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services in the cloud-computing market. The company has also hired key executives as part of its expansion strategy.

Ballapuram will partner with Google Cloud’s regional leadership—including Karan Bajwa for Asia Pacific and Tomoyuki Hirate for Japan—"to further our commitment to the success of our customers and continue to advance Google Cloud’s enterprise momentum in the market", according to a statement released on Tuesday.
