A day after reporting a reduction of its headcount by nearly 20,000 (below we’re saying 6K) in the July to September quarter, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said it plans to create 5,000 jobs in the UK over the next three years.

The UK is TCS’ second-largest market, supporting 42,000 jobs directly and indirectly through its supply chain across 19 sites in the UK. It contributed £3.3 billion in FY24, which translates to $4.4 billion or nearly Rs 39,000 crore, to the UK economy.

As part of its investment plans in the country, TCS said in a statement that it has launched an AI experience zone and design studio in London, and added that they are a reimagination of its flagship PacePort facility. This is expected to foster innovation and client collaboration across the UK.

The London studio is the second design hub established by TCS, following the opening of the New York design studio in September.

“We are continuing to expand our footprint across the UK, with investment in innovation, people, and skills," said Vinay Singhvi, head, UK & Ireland, TCS.

The UK plan comes at a time when TCS is undergoing a company-wide restructuring by laying off 2% of its six lakh global workforce. Between July to September, it claimed to have ‘released’ 1%, or around 6,000 employees.
