Sustainability requires more collaboration: SAP Labs India MD
Digital transformation no more a catchphrase, but an imperative, says SAP Labs India MD

“That is the kind of collaborative effort that we need from leaders across all sections of society to make the world more sustainable,” she said.
SAP has a significant influence on the global economy, said Gangadharan. The company is now using that influence to embed sustain- ability to analytics and transactional applications to minimise CO2 emissions. She said the company’s goal was to be both profitable and sustainable.
Gangadharan also said that the rapid and abrupt changes caused by the pandemic have necessitated business leaders to look at better ways to address three crucial issues – enhancing their business process, building a robust supply chain and ensuring an uninterrupted remote work environment.
Only technology can address these issues, she said. Digital transformation therefore is no more a catch phrase but an immediate imperative. Gangadharan said that ever since SAP entered the R&D space in India in 1998, it has grown into becoming the second largest R&D facility for SAP outside its headquarters. “Innovation has been core to our survival.”
