Bengaluru: The software industry treats any incident of misconduct or harassment with the highest degree of seriousness, industry body Nasscom said Tuesday. The statement came in response to allegations of sexual harassment cases at the Nashik BPO unit of IT market leader Tata Consultancy Services.

"The Indian technology industry is built on a foundation of respect, dignity and safety. The industry operates under strict governance frameworks and unequivocal standards for employee safety and workplace conduct," Nasscom said. "Any instance of misconduct or harassment is treated with the highest degree of seriousness, with organisations taking swift, decisive, and appropriate disciplinary action in line with established processes."

Such incidents are isolated in nature and do not reflect a systemic pattern within the industry, it said.

Meanwhile, a social media post on microblogging site X on Monday claimed cases of "jihadi harassment" at the Pune unit of Infosys.

In response to ET's queries on the allegation, Infosys said it is "aware of some social media posts claiming that women employees at Infosys BPM in Pune are facing harassment. Infosys maintains a zero-tolerance approach to any form of harassment or discrimination and is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, positive, and respectful workplace in all jurisdictions in which it operates."
