Infosys expands Indore facility with new 3.3-lakh sq ft software development block

Indian IT major Infosys on Wednesday announced the expansion of its Indore development center (DC) with a new Software Development Block (SDB-2) at its Indore campus to tap central India talent.

Infosys Indore currently has more than 3,300 employees supporting global clients across banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), retail, life sciences, and manufacturing.

The new 330,000-sq. ft. block further strengthens Infosys’ presence in central India and its commitment to the region’s growing technology and talent ecosystem, Infosys said in a statement.


The Bengaluru-headquartered company said the expanded center will strengthen its capabilities in cloud, application development, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and cybersecurity to address evolving client requirements.

The expansion in the state comes as the industry is shifting its delivery and pricing models due to the AI-led disruption pushing IT services companies to expand delivery capacity to India’s newer and emerging technology hubs in tier-2 and tier-3 Indian cities. These regions also have presence of engineering colleges with access to talent pool beyond the traditional centres - Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune.

Most recently, rival Cognizant has opened centres in Indore, Visakhapatnam and GIFT city in Gujarat, while larger peer Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is mulling opening new offices across multiple cities including Coimbatore, Kolkata and Kochi, as part of a massive infrastructure and expansion push.

Infosys, country’s second largest IT services provider, plans to deepen its engagement with Madhya Pradesh’s academic and technology ecosystem through skilling programs and institutional partnerships, including engagement with IIT Indore, IIM Indore, and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV).

“Indore is steadily emerging as an important technology hub, supported by a strong talent base and a growing innovation ecosystem. Infosys’ investment in Indore will create employment opportunities for the state’s skilled youth and further strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s technology ecosystem,” said Mohan Yadav, chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, present at the inauguration.

The campus expansion will also enable Infosys to tap into Central India’s growing talent pool, the statement said, adding that the campus will also be enabled with amenities such as flexible workstations, training facilities, and wellness centers.

Infosys chief financial officer Jayesh Sanghrajka said, “The expansion will enable us to leverage the region’s strong talent pool, strengthen our capabilities across AI, cloud, and digital technologies, and deliver greater value to our global clients.”
