Capgemini India CEO Ashwin Yardi to retire; become non-executive chairman from January 1

Sanjay Chalke, currently Capgemini’s chief operating officer (COO) in India, will succeed Yardi as the new CEO. Chalke would also join the group executive committee, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

French IT services and consulting firm Capgemini announced that Ashwin Yardi will be retiring from the group after a seven-year stint as chief executive officer of the Indian operations.

Yardi will assume the role of non-executive chairman of Capgemini in India with effect from January 1, 2026.

Sanjay Chalke, currently Capgemini’s chief operating officer (COO) in India, will succeed Yardi as the new CEO. Chalke would also join the group executive committee, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.


“As non-executive Chairman, Ashwin will focus on nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and will support Sanjay in this transition, while Sanjay will continue to reinforce Capgemini in India as a strategic backbone for client delivery excellence, talent and innovation,” the company said.

“Ashwin has been instrumental in establishing Capgemini’s industry leadership and talent in India. During his leadership, Capgemini in India has seen significant growth, expanding from 105,500 to nearly 180,000 team members,” said Aiman Ezzat, CEO, Capgemini.

“Under his (Sanjay Chalke) leadership, we look forward to accelerating our growth even further, deepening our impact, and continuing to strengthen India as a centre for innovation, technology and transformation,” said Ezzat.

During his stint as COO, Chalke has led multiple transformation programmes, focused on operational excellence, talent acquisition, delivery assurance, and building cross-functional synergies across business units. He is also a member of the India Country Board (ICB).

In his previous position as executive vice president and head of Sogeti India at Capgemini, Chalke led Sogeti India at Capgemini. He also headed the global SAP business at DXC Technologies (formerly CSC), managing cross-functional global teams for key clients.
