Birlasoft appoints former Cognizant exec Selvakumaran Mannappan as COO

Mid-sized software firm Birlasoft Ltd, part of the $2.9 billion C.K. Birla Group, has appointed Selvakumaran Mannappan (Selva) as its chief operating officer (COO) effective October 18, 2023.

With nearly 30 years of experience, Selva’s latest stint was at Cognizant Technology Solutions as the delivery head of BFSI-Americas (Banking, Financial Services & Insurance).

Selva will be instrumental in elevating Birlasoft's delivery excellence strategy embodying state-of-the-art technologies to deliver exceptional value to our customers, the company said in a statement.


Birlasoft is also betting big on artificial intelligence (AI). It recently established a generative AI centre of excellence, in collaboration with Microsoft, aimed at accelerating value creation and fostering innovation in the adoption of generative AI.
