Xiaomi might have its own mobile processors by early 2016, claims report
Chinese juggernaut Xiaomi has already ventured into a wide range of market segments, ranging from smartphones to water purifiers. A new report now suggests that the company might be looking to strengthen its mobile business by manufacturing mobile chipsets on its own, thus reducing reliance on companies like Mediatek and Qualcomm.

The report goes onto say that Xiaomi will have this processor ready by early 2016, which is just a few months away. Going by this, it seems like Xiaomi has been working on this for quite some time now.

It is said that Xiaomi will use these mobile processors only for their entry level or budget handsets, while top of the line flagships might still utilize a chipset made by Qualcomm.

To achieve this goal, the company is said to have bought the required ARM core licenses and even hired China's Qualcomm head Wang Xiang, suggesting that this is a serious plan.

That being said, the company has still been very quiet about this, so it could just as easily remain a rumor. We hope to hear more about this over the coming months. Maybe the company will have something to say on this next Thursday when it is expected to unveil the new MIUI 7 along with the Mi 5 flagship.
