User spending on printers up 27 pc to $219.8 mn in Q4 2012

Total end-user spending on inkjet and page printer, copier and multifunction products grew by 27 per cent to about Rs 1,190 cr in the fourth quarter of 2012.

NEW DELHI: Total end-user spending on inkjet and page printer, copier and multifunction products grew by 27 per cent to USD 219.8 million (about Rs 1,190 crore) in the fourth quarter of 2012, research firm Gartner said today.

The combined serial inkjet and page printer, copier and multifunction product (MFP) market in India totalled 676,263 units in the October-December quarter of 2012 representing a 5.4 per cent increase from the year-ago period.

"HP remained the market leader in the Indian printer, copier and MFP market as its market share totalled 54 per cent, followed by Canon with 21 per cent share," Gartner said in a release.

Samsung accounted for 8 per cent, while Epson accounted for 6 per cent of the market in the fourth quarter of 2012, it added.

"In the fourth quarter of 2012, vendors focused on strengthening their channel partners and engaged them in more channel programs initiatives, and most vendors worked closely with the education and public sector units to win deals in both products and services," Gartner Research Analyst Amrita Choudhury said.
