Toshiba recalls notebooks due to overheating cases

Toshiba has received 129 reports of the computers overheating, including two reports of minor burn injuries and two reports of minor property damage

NEW YORK: The US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada has announced a voluntary recall by Toshiba Corp of its notebook computers due to possible burn hazard concern.

Subject to the recall are Satellite T135, Satellite T135D and Satellite ProT130 notebook computers sold from August 2009 through August 2010, totaling about 41,000 units globally.

The US and Canadian government agencies said the notebook computers can overheat at the plug-in to the AC adapter, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

Toshiba has received 129 reports of the computers overheating, including two reports of minor burn injuries and two reports of minor property damage, according to the agencies.

Toshiba is asking consumers to contact the company or immediately download remedial software.
