Texas Instruments launches smallest DC converter chip

Texas Instruments India today said it has launched the smallest DC converter chip in the market.

MUMBAI: Texas Instruments India today said it has launched the smallest DC converter chip in the market.

The chip, TPS 62601, would enable manufacturers of handheld communication devices to offer users various features and applications such as memory modules, bluetooth, Wi-Fi, ultra-thin smartphones and mobile phones and Internet device, a company release said here.

According to consultant Gartner, demand for enhanced mobile phones with multiple features would go up from 46.8 million in 2008 to 68.3 million in 2010.

The demand for basic smart phones would increase from 12.2 million in 2008 to 23.7 million in 2010 while for enhanced smartphones the increase would be from 6.6 million in 2008 to 13.2 million in 2010.

"This provides a great opportunity for the deployment of TPS 62601 in these communication devices," Texas Director Ramprasad Anathaswamy said.
