NEW DELHI: Voice and satellite services firm Telstra Global has launched end-to-end network services for the Indian market with an aim to provide customers with better network connectivity and advanced telecommunication solutions.

The firm, a part of Australia's leading telecommunications and media services company Telstra Corporation, was granted ILD (International Long Distance), NLD (National Long Distance) and ISP (Internet Service Provider) licences in October 2011.

Telstra Global, which posted revenues of about $26 billion for the year ended June 2013, also launched its global IPVPN services in India in March last year.

"We had initially acquired the rights for the licences and now we are operationalising them. The transmission licences are proved. We are able to now accept orders locally in India," Telstra Global Director (Product and Marketing) Nathan Bell told PTI.

Telstra will now offer International Private Line (IPL), Ethernet Private Line (EPL), and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) services from India after it got approval from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of its international gateways installed at Mumbai and Chennai, he added.

"India is a core part of our global business and with customers increasingly looking to manage business-critical aspects of their work from India, the network has never been more important," Bell said.

The launch of transmission services in India will ensure that Telstra's current and potential clients will have better control of the network, access to more cost-effective services and have less lead time, he added.

Network services will feature mesh network architecture, with Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and virtual PoPs in Pune and Kolkata.

Mumbai and Chennai will act as dual international gateways out of India, he said.

Globally, Telstra's has 15.1 million retail mobile customers, 2.8 million retail broadband customers and 1.6 million bundled customers.
