Tech Queries: Samsung Wave 2 vs Samsung Ace with Android

Comparing the Sony 32NX500 and the Samsung series 5 LCD 32C550, we would suggest that you should opt for the Samsung.

I need a touch screen phone for mainly games, music, browsing, social networking and camera in a budget of Rs 18,000. Is it worth buying the Samsung Wave 2 for my purpose or should I go for the Samsung Ace with Android ? Also, is the Wave 2 Bada 2.0 compatible?
—Siddhesh

The Samsung Wave II fulfills all your requirements in that price segment. However, the phone currently runs on Bada v1.2 and a although Bada 2.0 demos were shown on the Wave II, there is no official confirmation from Samsung that the Wave II will be updated to Bada 2.0 in the future.

Instead of the Samsung Ace, we would recommend that you go for the Motorola Defy in that price segment. It features a 3.7-inch touch screen display in a rugged form factor and is powered by a 800Mhz processor. It runs Android operating system with a great music player and superb social network integration. The phone sports a 5MP camera with image stabilization and records videos in VGA resolution.

I want to purchase two LCD televisions. One for my home and the other for my office. I have shortlisted the Akai LED32D20 and the Sony 32NX500. Besides these, the Samsung series 5 LCD 32C550 is an option I am considering instead of the Sony. Kindly suggest.

The Akai LED TV is a good entry-level option if you are restricted on a budget. It is HD ready with a 1366 x 768 pixels resolution and comes with a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,00,000:1. The TV also supports media playback from portable USB harddrives. However, the TV suffers from low sound output which is good enough only for a small room. You can connect an entry-level 2.1 speakers system from Creative or Logitech and use the TV at your home to fix this issue.

Comparing the Sony 32NX500 and the Samsung series 5 LCD 32C550, we would suggest that you should opt for the Samsung. It has better looks and even though on paper both the TV has similar specification, the Samsung scores on performance and supports direct DivX and Xvid video playback from USB drives.
