Tablet-PC Hybrid on Windows 8- Samsung ATIV Smart PC and Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro

Samsung on Tuesday launched two hybrid devices that can be used both as a tablet and a notebook PC, report Hitesh Raj Bhagat & Gulveen Aulakh.


The ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro will be the first Windows 8 tablets in India that let users run legacy Windows applications.

Windows 8 operating system—optimised for touch—has led to the introduction of several notebooks and desktop computers with touch screens with unique features. For instance, Asus Taichi is a notebook with dual screens and Dell's XPS Duo has a screen that swivels, while Lenovo's Yoga has a screen that folds all the way around.

All these new devices exploit the dual-use potential of Windows 8—great for both tablet use (content consumption) and for regular PC use (content creation).
