NEW DELHI: Sunstrike Telecom India Tuesday said it will buy back any mobile device in exchange for a Samsung handset at special prices.

The program will help support Samsung Mobile’s bid to attract new customers in the highly competitive Indian market, Sunstrike said in a statement.

The tie up comes at a time Samsung has been losing smartphone market share in India, the world fastest growing market for the devices. According to IDC, Samsung’s share dropped to 35 per cent of the smartphone market in the January-March quarter, from 38 per cent in the October-December period.

Sunstrike said that it has put in specific criteria to determine the value of the handsets that customers want to sell in exchange for a Samsung phone. Sunstrike will honor the appraised price and adjust it against the new purchase.

“We know that besides being extremely challenging, India is a huge market for this business,” Chanpreet Singh, managing director of Sunstrike India, said.
