ST Microelectronics to invest $20-30 mn

Semiconductor company; ST Microelectronics on Friday said it will invest 20-30 million dollars in India for expansion and will increase the headcount in the country by about 1300.

NEW DELHI: Semiconductor company; ST Microelectronics on Friday said it will invest 20-30 million dollars in India for expansion and will increase the headcount in the country by about 1300.
"We will be investing 20-30 million dollars in 2007 in India, mainly in constructions of design and development centres in Greater Noida and our headcount will increase by 1300 to touch 3000 during the year," company Corporate Vice President for Emerging Markets Thierry Tingaud said.
The leading suppliers of semiconductor solutions company on Friday launched its first made in India chip, which has been designed in the country.
ST Microelectronics makes chips for set top boxes, which are used in the broadcasting industry.
