Sony India to increase flat panel sales 50% in FY12
Sony India expects sales of its Bravia flat panel televisions increase 50% to 12 lakh units for the year ending March’12.
“Demand for LED TVs is on an upswing with 15% contribution to total flat panel sales till April’11. Sony is fuelling this growth by launching new models and doing heavy marketing,” Tamagawa said at the launch of 15 new models of LED televisions on Wednesday. Sony India will spend Rs 150 crore in marketing and promotional activities this year.
The company claims to have a marketshare of 30% in the flat panels category, comprising LCD and LED televisions. Tamagawa said that Bravia range would continue to be Sony India’s main dish in India.
Vaio range of laptops contributes 20%, digital imaging products cameras 15%, while audio systems, home theatre and playstation contributes the remaining 30% to the company's overall sales in India.
Tamagawa also confirmed the launch of Sony’s tablet this year.
