Samsung to launch LCD TV with LED light

SAMSUNG India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of South Korea’s Samsung Electronics, will unveil high-powered LED (light emitting diode) backlight technology used in LCD television sets in India this November.

KOLKATA: SAMSUNG India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of South Korea’s Samsung Electronics, will unveil high-powered LED (light emitting diode) backlight technology used in LCD television sets in India this November.

It is also looking to make LED-compatible LCD TVs in this country at some stage. Senior officials at Samsung India said: “We will, initially, import LCD TVs with LED technology from Korea. Subsequently, Samsung may start producing LED-compatible LCD sets in India.” The new technology bagged the ‘Innovation Award’ from the EISA (European Image and Sound Association) for its world class LED light source, 146% wide colour gamut and contrast ratio which is as high as 10,000 : 1.
