NEW DELHI: Samsung would not be selling Galaxy Note 7 manufactured till September 15 in India, the mobile phone company has informed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

DGCA sources told ET that Samsung informed them that it would not sell phones manufactured till September 15, 2016, in India in order to address battery issues.

"That takes care of the battery issue on Galaxy Note 7. The Note 2 phone, which caught fire in the flight, will be further investigated to ensure the reason behind the fire," said DGCA sources.

Samsung said it will issue a statement soon.

Last week, a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 caught fire inside an IndiGo aircraft flying between Singapore and Chennai.

The incident happened within a fortnight of the regulator prohibiting the use of Galaxy Note 7 on board following a series of incidents of the smartphone's battery exploding in various countries.
