MUMBAI: On Sunday , a Reliance Lyf customer ,Tanvir. Sadiq posted on social media - Twitter , how is Reliance Lyf phone burst into flames.

His post said- 'My family had a narrow escape today after @Reliancejio’s @Reliance_Lyf phone exploded and burst into flames’.



He also wrote that this was a serious issue and how the company needs to look into it and recall the handsets .

A Reliance Lyf team member reached out to the consumer asking for Sadiq's contact details .

Lyf is Reliance Retail brand’s smartphones that were rolled out this year. Mukesh Ambani opened 4G services called Reliance Jio have free simcards along with Lyf phones and preloaded Jio apps.

To an email sent by ET, a spokesperson from Lyf stated - ‘LYF range of phones are designed and manufactured with global standards by some of the world’s leading manufacturers of mobile phones. Each phone goes through a stringent quality control process’. .

‘We are concerned about the incident reported in social media and are taking the matter seriously. We are assessing the cause and will conduct a thorough investigation in the matter. Customer safety is paramount to us and, based on our findings, we will take appropriate action,’ the statement added’ , it added.

Since the last few months , electronic major Samsung too has been engulfed with consumer complaints of its Galaxy Note 7 bursting into flames. In airlines , including Indian flights the phone has been banned.
