NEW DELHI: The recalling of Sony-made lithium ion batteries in 4.1 million notebooks being sold by Dell during the last two years is unlikely to have any impact in India, a company official said on Wednesday.
"From the total number of recalled batteries worldwide, only a small portion was from India and it is not going to impact our business here," Dell Asia Pacific/Japan President Steve Felice said refusing to give the number of batteries recalled from India.
The recalled batteries in India would be replaced in the next 6 weeks, he said.
He said the recall would not have any material impact on its business.
Dell India Vice President and General Manager Rajan Anandan said, "the company has bagged 3 largest deals from big corporates in India in the last two weeks, which shows that the business here is not affected by the recalling of batteries."
Anandan, however, declined to name the three new clients.
Responding to the query whether Dell would discontinue using Sony's batteries in the near future, Felice said, "we will continue our relationship with Sony. Sony has been an excellent supplier to Dell for many years and is a very good partner for us."
