Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Communications said it has partnered with Korean mobile handset maker Samsung to launch Android-powered CDMA phone Samsung Galaxy i899, priced at Rs 19,900.

NEW DELHI: Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Communications said it has partnered with Korean mobile handset maker Samsung to launch Android-powered CDMA phone Samsung Galaxy i899, priced at Rs 19,900.

Samsung Galaxy i899 will offer data speed of up to 3.1 Mbps to Reliance Mobile customers, along with other features like a 3.2-inch AMOLED touch-screen, 3.2 megapixel camera and expandable memory up to 32GB, RCom said in a statement.

Android is an operating system for mobiles and wireless devices, initially developed by Google, which allows developers to design applications independent of the handset type.

The smartphone is the first CDMA device to be launched in India, pre-installed with Android Market, an online applications store developed by Google for Android devices, it added.

"The launch of Samsung Galaxy i899, is in line with our strategy to offer hi-speed wireless data network access and application downloads on CDMA mobile service to Reliance Mobile customers," RCom Head (Handset and Data Services) Vrajesh Shelat said.
