PC shipments up 10.6% in Q4 2015, but concerns on future growth remain
MUMBAI: Gartner said shipments of personal computers in India grew nearly 11% in the fourth-quarter, but the research firm added that it does not see significant growth in the market going forward.

PC shipments in India totalled nearly 2.6 million units, Gartner said. The research firm showed that Lenovo increased its share of the market to 25.3% for the quarter ended December 31, 2015, from 18% a year ago.

Gartner attributed the growth in Lenovo’s market share to execution of orders the company received from state governments.

Both HP and Dell lost market share in the quarter, Gartner data showed.

Gartner said that consumers accounted for 40% of the sales in the fourth quarter, down from 52% in the previous year. And the firm is not optimistic about future growth.

“The PC market in India is facing some challenging market dynamics .The enterprise segment might witness some growth going forward due to government and education projects, however we do not foresee significant growth in the PC market in India,” Vishal Tripathi, research director at Gartner, said in a statement.
