NEW DELHI: Handset maker Obi Mobiles, promoted by former Apple CEO John Sculley, is in talks with Mozilla to launch Firefox smartphones under its own brand in India within a couple of months, reports Our Bureau.

Obi Mobiles’ India chief executive officer Ajay Sharma told ET that the company may well come out with its Firefox smartphones this year, along with a range of Android devices, but may price them higher than rivals.

Singaporebased Inflexionpoint will initially invest $20 million in setting up a design centre and supply chain, sales and marketing network to launch the brand in India. It also plans to launch Windows smartphones within this year.

“We have initiated discussions on the Firefox and Windows platforms,” Sharma said. “We are looking at a period which is close to six months,” he added.
