O2 to open concept stores in India

CHENNAI: Concept stores seems to be in. Close on the heels of the US mobile giant Motorola opening a concept center in Delhi, now the smartphone manufacturer O2 has announced its plans to set up six concept stores in India next quarter.

O2, a part of the Telefonica O2 Europe, a leading provider of mobile communications services in Europe, plans to open these stores in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata on a franchisee model.

Addressing reporters, Myilravanan Nathar, Country Manager, India, said the O2 PDA range of mobile phones worked on Windows Operating System.

The company is looking at sales of two lakh units this year in the country. O2 currently has three products in the country which would be increased to seven by the end of the year, said Nathar.

The company had launched Xda Atom Life, priced at Rs 45,900 in February this year.
