Motorola launches Moto E budget smartphone at Rs 6,999
NEW DELHI: Motorola Mobility on Tuesday launched the Moto E, its most affordable smartphone worldwide. The smartphone has been priced at Rs 6,999, a move that may stir up the low and mid-range cost device segment in India. Moto E will be exclusively available via online retailer Flipkart in the Indian market.

The 4.3 inch smartphone comes with a 1 GB RAM, 1 Ghz processor and the latest version of Android Kitkat. It's water resistant and anti smudge screen coating features pit it against some high end devices.

Motorola has promised that it will upgrade the smartphone to the next major version of Android. Unlike Moto X and G, this phone supports microSD cards for storage expansion.

The budget offering of Motorola sports a 5MP camera on the back, but does not have rear LED flash and front camera. It can access the internet over 2G, 3G and Wi-Fi networks, while data can be transferred via microUSB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.0.

The smartphone has a 1980 mAh battery which Motorola claims lasts up to 24 hours of usage. It features interchangeable backs—called Motorola Shells. The phone weighs 142g.

Moto E will come in black and white colours. Motorola is eyeing the large number of mobile phone users who are switching from feature phones to budget smartphones with Moto E.

Motorola Mobility's Magnus Ahlqvist said that the company has stocked more than enough devices as it expects far higher demand for the Moto E than the Moto G, which launched nine months ago.
