MUMBAI: Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Limited (MBPV), plans to recruit more than 4,000 personnel over the next one-and-a-half years at its new plant, now under construction at Greater Noida near Delhi.
The plant, involving an outlay of $92-million and financed by the World Bank's private equity arm, International Finance Corporation (IFC), is scheduled to attain full production capacity of 80 MW by Q1 FY 09, a company spokesperson told PTI here.
MBPV is a fully-owned subsidiary of Moser Baer India and is in the business of manufacturing photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules.
"MBPV will be manufacturing solar cells and modules by straddling multiple technologies including crystalline silicon, concentration, nano technology and other thin films," the spokesperson said.
The plant has already succesfully completed its final line integration and trials on its initial 40 MW crystalline photocolatic cell production facility.
The first phase of installation was completed at a cost of around $58 million, the spokesperson said.
The remaining 40 MW capacity will be attained by next April-May and work is progressing on schedule, he said.
The company's project site is located in a special economic zone, adjacent to Moser Baer's existing plant in Noida industrial estate in Uttar Pradesh.
The company has also entered into a technology partnership with US-based Applied Materials to build the new unit.
