Moser Baer announces 880 mn USD tie-up with REC

Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd, a subsidiary of Moser Baer India Ltd, has entered into $800 million contract with Norway’s REC Group for sale and delivery of high quality multicrystalline silicon wafers.

MUMBAI: Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd, a subsidiary of Moser Baer India Ltd, has entered into $800 million contract with Norway’s REC Group for sale and delivery of high quality multicrystalline silicon wafers over an 8-year period starting 2008.

The contract follows Moser Baer Photo Voltaic's strategic sourcing initiative with Deutsche Solar and its acquisition of 40 per cent stake in Slovenia-based Solarvalue Proizvodnja which plans to set up a capacity of 4,400 tonne of solar grade silicon by end 2008.

The three pronged strategy is part of Moser Baer Photo Voltaic's objective to access a regular supply of high quality solar grade silicon at competitive pricing.

At 10:52 am, Moser Baer shares were at Rs 319.20 on the BSE, up 4.66 per cent over Thursday.
