Micromax unveils its first Windows 8.1 smartphones

NEW DELHI: Micromax Informatics, India’s second largest handset maker, on Monday launched its first set of Windows 8.1 devices — Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092 — marking its entry into a second OS, four months after it announced a partnership with Microsoft. Both devices, which will be available from July, use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 that has a 1.2 GHz quad core processor with 1 GB RAM and dual-SIM capabilities.

The Canvas Win W121 has a 5-inch screen, an 8 megapixel rear camera with flash and a 2 megapixel front camera with 8 GB memory which is expandable to 32 GB. Armed with a 2000 mAh battery, the smartphone is priced at Rs 9,500. The Canvas Win W092 has a 4-inch screen with 1500 mAh battery, with 8 GB memory and is priced at Rs 6,500.
