LeEco hires Qualcomm’s Jaiteerth Patwari to head R&D

LeEco India launched its operations more than six months ago and aims to increase its staff fivefold to more than 1,000 by the end of 2016.

NEW DELHI: China’s Leshi Internet Information & Technology ( LeEco) has hired Jaiteerth Patwari from mobile processor supplier Qualcomm to head research and development at its online retail store LeMall.

Patwari will set up and head the development centre at LeMall India, the company said in a press release.

“We are very delighted to bring Jaiteerth on board. He is a well-known and respected name in the industry and will bring with him a wealth of experience, which we’re sure will be fruitful for us in our India journey,” said Atul Jain, chief operating officer of smart electronics business at LeEco India.

Patwari worked for 14 years at Qualcomm, where he developed award-wining patents that the US Patent and Trademark Office recognised for innovations related to content monetisation and distribution, the release said.

At LeEco, Jaiteerth will be responsible for innovating, developing and supporting the company’s fast-paced e-commerce business. The company is looking to hire 50 more engineers who can help build a highly scalable e-commerce platform.
