Nikon has launched the successor to its D5000: the D5100, which features a 16.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor with the EXPEED 2 image processing engine.

Nikon has launched the successor to its D5000: the D5100. This DSLR features a 16.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor with the EXPEED 2 image processing engine. It has an 11-point autofocus system, 4 FPS continuous shooting speed and an ISO range of 100 – 6400 (expandable up to 25, 600). It features a 3-inch vari-angle LCD, dual IR receivers and a new movie record button on the top. Also present is an in-camera HDR (high dynamic range) mode and a bunch of special effects filters that can be applied to both photos and videos. As is usual for this price point, it can record full HD videos (at 30, 25 or 24FPS).

Canon has launched a slew of new cameras including the much-awaited EOS 600D DSLR, PowerShot SX 230 and IXUS 220. The 600D features an 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor with Digic IV processor. It has a 9-point autofocus system, 3.7 FPS speed, full HD 1080p video recording (at 30, 25 or 24FPS) and an ISO range of 100 -6400 (expandable up to 12,800). The DSLR also features an articulating 3-inch LCD display and integrated wireless flash control. The SX 230 HS and IXUS 220 HS also feature the Digit IV processor and have 12.1MP CMOS sensors. The SX 230 boasts of a built in GPS receiver while the IXUS records full HD videos in a compact stainless steel body.
