Launch Pad: A look at some of the new gadgets introduced in the market

Wishtel IRA & IRA Thing: Aimed at the entry-level segment, these 7-inch Android tablets are made in India & are the world's first to support native Indian languages. Powered by a Via 800Mhz processor & 512MB RAM, the tablets come with either 2GB (IRA) or 4GB (IRA Thing) storage, feature Android 2.2 and come with a full size USB port, mini USB port, microSD slot & stereo speakers + mic. The USB port also supports 3G connectivity via a USB dongle. Both weigh about 370 grams & Wishtel claims a 4 hour battery life.

Nikon 1 Series: The new 1 Series comprises the J1 & V1 — Nikon's first mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. Both cameras have 10 MP CMOS sensors that are capable of recording full HD 1080p videos.

They also feature 1200FPS slow motion video (at reduced resolution), 10FPS highspeed shooting, timelapse recording, a 3-inch LCD as well as HDMI out. The V1 is the more premium offering with a magnesium alloy body, mechanical shutter and multi-accessory port. Both cameras come with a 10-30mm kit lens.

FujiFilm X-Pro 1: Fujifilm's new high-end interchangeable lens camera features a specially developed APS-C size CMOS sensor that claims to capture better colors. It has a hybrid multi viewfinder — you can switch between an optical and electronic viewfinder with dual magnification built in.

Other features include analogue dials for shutter and exposure settings, a new X-lens mount, redesigned menu system, 3-inch rear LCD, EXR Pro image processor, 6 FPS shooting, full HD video recording and motion panorama.
