NEW DELHI: Betting big on India, Scotland- based KeyPoint Technologies will hire 15 experts this year at its research and development facility in Hyderabad to enhance its virtual keyboard platform.

The company, which offers the Adaptxt keyboard for smart devices, has about 100 engineers at its Hyderabad centre.

"India is a very important market for us. Though it contributes about five per cent to our revenues, it is already among our top five markets and we see a huge potential for growth," KeyPoint Technologies CEO Sumit Goswami told PTI.

He, however, declined to disclose the company's revenue details.

Goswami added that Keypoint is looking at hiring 15 technical and non-technical resources in its next financial year for its Hyderabad centre.

The company follows a July-June fiscal. Keypoint also works with device makers globally, including the likes of Lava, Pantel, AOC and HCL from India to pre-embed its keyboard.

Globally, the company supports about 120 languages. "We already offer support for over 30 Indian languages. Lipi, which is available free for download, is India's first Indic keyboard that supports 25 major Indic languages and additionally 11 transliterated languages like Hinglish, Marathinglish, Punglish and Banglish," he added.

Keypoint has a language research centre at its headquarters at Glasgow.

The company claims that its app has seen 1.8 million downloads, of which India accounted for about 450,000.

Goswami said India is adding about 40,000-50,000 new users in India every month.
