Karbonn launches new handsets; to launch 3G smartphones soon

The new range from Karbonn consists of a variety of touch, QWERTY, multimedia and music phones across various price-points, Karbonn Mobiles said in a statement.

NEW DELHI: To cash on the growing mobile phone market, home-grown Karbonn Mobiles on Sunday launched ten new devices in the price range of Rs 1,500-Rs 5,000 and said it plans to launch 3G smartphones on the Android platform shortly.

"This latest range from Karbonn Mobiles underlines our commitment of driving affordability, coupled with great features in the Indian handset market," Karbonn Mobiles executive director Shashin Devsare said in New Delhi.

The new range from Karbonn consists of a variety of touch, QWERTY, multimedia and music phones across various price-points, Karbonn Mobiles said in a statement.

Pradeep Jain, Managing Director, Karbonn Mobiles, said, "We plan to get even more aggressive with fresh initiatives to ramp up our operations and aim to double our sales by the first quarter of the next year."

He added, "We are extremely upbeat about the Indian market and are planning to launch 3G smartphones on the Android platform shortly."

Karbonn Mobiles is a joint venture between Delhi-based Jaina Group and Bangalore-based UTL Group. It sells about 10 million mobile devices in the country every month.
