Intex appoints SP Subramanian as AVP sales for mobile business
NEW DELHI: Local handset to consumer durables maker Intex Technologies has appointed SP Subramanian as assistant vice president of sales for the mobile business, who will handle sales of the company’s mobile phones nationally.

Subramanian brings with him nearly 25 years of experience in the service provider and mobile devices segment including companies like Lava International Limited and Sistema Shyam.

“The mobile handset industry in India is extremely dynamic, and it is commendable that Intex has established itself as the leading domestic player in the hyper-competitive market,” Subramanian said.

The mobile phone division, which makes up majority of the company’s business, has seen several changes in the past couple of months, at a time when Chinese smartphone vendors have been eating away at its market share. The Chinese onslaught has impacted all Indian players, primarily in the smartphone segment.

Unnikrishnan Mohandas Thazhath, who was appointed as head of product for mobile business quit earlier this month, just three months after taking on the role. Intex said that Ishita Bansal, who joined the company six months back, will now head the products division.
