Intel, WiMax Forum to bring low cost WiMax devices to India

Technology giant Intel today announced an alliance with the WiMax Forum India to focus on developing low cost WiMax devices targeted at the Indian market.

NEW DELHI: Technology giant Intel today announced an alliance with the WiMax Forum India to focus on developing low cost WiMax devices targeted at the Indian market.

"Intel will work with the WiMax Forum, service providers and device manufacturers to bring out Wimax enabled notebook and notebook to the Indian market by 2009," Intel Vice- President and General Manager (WiMax Program Office) Sriram Viswanthan told reporters here.

According to the WiMax Forum, India will have more than 27.5 million broadband Internet users by 2012.
