NEW DELHI: Aiming to boost consumption of personal computing devices like PCs, tablets, chip maker Intel has launched extensive campaigns covering over 50 cities and about 4 million customers to educate people on technology.

The US-based firm has launched a nationwide campaign to increase relevance and demand of personal computing devices and drive domestic adoption of technology by targeting consumers with the message of how a PC can change their life.

"Idea basically is to demystify technology. How do we drive technology adoption overall. How do we take the overall technology penetration in households above the dismal 10-11 per cent currently," Intel South Asia Director (Marketing and Market Development) Sandeep Aurora told PTI.

The first phase, which concluded in April-June quarter, the company covered over 40 cities across 10 states reaching out to two million customers through over 2 lakh demos showcased at 'My Discoveries' experience zones, he added.

"While the initial phase of campaign met with substantial success, Intel aims to reach out to more customers through the 2nd phase of the campaign which will be targeting consumers across 15 cities in India covering another two million customers," he said.

The campaign focuses on education, entertainment, connecting with family, friends and how technology can help them to stay connected, Aurora said adding the firm conducts do shows in malls and high traffic locations in tier I to IV cities.

"We make them aware about the benefits of technology. Like how one can access information from the web and share it through social media or use sounds to create music or take pictures and use it on the web," he said.
