Intel Capital to invest $40 mn in 10 Asian companies

Intel Capital, the investment arm of chipmaker Intel, today announced investments worth USD 40 million in 10 Asian companies.

NEW DELHI: Intel Capital, the investment arm of chipmaker Intel, today announced investments worth USD 40 million in 10 Asian companies, including TELiBrahma and Happiest Minds from India.

They include eight new investments in companies from China, India, Japan and South Korea, and two planned investments in companies from Taiwan, Intel Capital said in a statement.

"These 10 companies offer unique technology - from remote security solutions to interactive cloud-based services - that enhances productivity, security and the online experience for consumers and businesses around the world," Intel Capital President and Intel Executive Vice President Arvind Sodhani said.

The 10 investments cover a range of technologies, including semiconductor design and manufacturing, green technology, software, security, social gaming and cloud-based services.

Details of individual investment, including the amount to be invested, were not disclosed.

The investments have been made in TELiBrahma Convergent Communications, Happiest Minds Technologies (India), G-cluster Global Corp (Japan), Makepolo.com, Miartech (China), Neosem Inc (Korea), OneBe Inc (Japan) and Outblaze Venture Holdings (Hong Kong).

Intel's has also planned investments in Insyde Software Corp and SNSplus Inc from Taiwan.

In addition to the new investments, Intel Capital announced that International Finance Corporation (IFC) joined the Intel Capital Global Investment Syndicate.

Initiated in 2010, the Intel Capital Global Investment Syndicate comprises a select group of investors around the world that co-invest in select deals with Intel Capital.

The programme objective is to help companies grow faster by providing global market reach, technology expertise besides advisors along with a ready access to additional growth capital over time.
