Indian smartphone sales rise 166% in Q2
India’s smartphone shipments grew sharply during the second quarter of this year, as local vendors lured buyers with large-screen phones offering dual-SIM slots.

The share of feature phones in total mobile sales dropped to 85% during the quarter. However, India is still the largest market for feature phones in the Asia Pacific region (excluding Japan).

The growth in the India smartphone market is driven by consistent performance by local vendors who accounted for more than half of the total smartphone market in 2Q13.

These vendors have been scaling up operations owing to rising migration of the user base from feature phones to smartphones.
