IBM's mineral processing lab in Nagpur gets global attention
The Indian Bureau of Mines' Modern Mineral Processing Laboratory and Pilot Plant, set up with the assistance of United Nations Development Programme in 1960, is attracting clients from various parts of the world, an official said.
The Modern Mineral Processing Laboratory and Pilot Plant of the IBM, whose headquarters is in the city, is equipped with State of Art facilities to carry out research and development (R&D) activities and is doing extremely well on its professional front, IBM controller general, CS Gundewar, said in Nagpur.
The lab is good enough to carry out R&D studies in the field of mineral beneficiation, mineral characterisation, analysis of ores and ore dressing products as well as environmental samples, he said.
IBM has attracted clients from Japan, Germany, Canada besides the State-owned National Mining Companies in Oman, Bhutan and Vietnam, he said.
Various state government's Mining and Geology Departments like those of Assam, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Manipur, Orissa, Rajasthan, Sikkim and West Bengal have also been benefited and are the valuable clients of IBM, Gundewar said.
Private sector companies like Ambuja, ACC, Benani, Keshoram and Madras Cements along with Bharat Aluminium, Chowgule Sesa, Salgaonkar and Ispat Industries have also approached IBM for the mineral beneficiation, he said.
