Huawei aims to break into top 5 smartphone players by year-end
NEW DELHI: Huawei has said that the India device business market is growing faster than its global business, and it expects to break into the top five smartphone players with a 10% market share in value terms by end of this year, backed by new mid-range devices and a significant marketing budget.

“This year is important for us. Last year was to build the localized ability such as channel hardware and software. This ability will now support us to increase market share this year… Now, sales are going up for us… We do believe that we will be the final winner,” Allen Wang, Director Product Center, Huawei India Consumer Business Group told ET. He said that 2016 calendar year was significantly better than 2015 for the handset brand in India. “We have seen an increase of 29% in our global delivery of smartphone last year as compared to 2015 at a time when the industry has grown just 3%.

We are number 3 already and our market share is increasing globally,” Allen said.
