NEW DELHI: Computer maker Hewlett-Packard (HP) today launched a new printer under the designjet Z-series for the Indian market which the firm claims is the first multi-roll, large format ePrinter for copy shops.

The new printer, HP Designjet Z5400 PostScript ePrinter, allows customers to increase their print offerings to address a wide range of requests without large capital investment. It is also the best fit for graphic service providers, the company said.

"Our customers are constantly under competitive pressure to differentiate their print offerings and meet tight deadlines," HP GSB India Country Manager Designjet Mahesh Soni said.

To help customers address these needs, HP continues to deliver innovative built to fit the varying demands of graphic professionals, he added.

The latest offering by the US-based firm is ideal for printing large format applications with high image quality like posters, photos, canvases, back-lit prints, indoor signs, line drawings and maps, he said.

It also features multi-dimensional smart drop placement technology, which provides increased levels of colour accuracy for reliable operations, he added.

The technology also detects and corrects ink placement errors during printing to increase efficiency and reduce waste, Soni said.

The HP Designjet printer allows copy shops to produce durable, water resistant prints that can last up to 200 years, he said adding the printer has web connect feature enabling automatic software updates.
