ET Review: WickedLeak Wammy Passion X
NEW DELHI: WickedLeak is one of the few manufacturers launching unique phones rather than flooding the market with 'me-too' models. Their new flagship — Wammy Passion X — features a water repellent nano-coating called AquaProtect.

WickedLeak says that AquaProtect protects internal and external components of the phone from liquid damage. On paper, it can withstand more than 30mins in water.

Practically though, the coating is good enough to protect your device from accidental splashes and occasional (accidental) submersion in the sink/toilet. WickedLeak’s included guide reads, "We do not warrant that the coating of your device will work perfectly or that it will work under all conditions". We feel this shows their lack of confidence with the technology. To test it out, we splashed some water on it and dropped it in a sink with running water for 2-3 seconds — the phone continued to work.

While we liked the overall build quality and size of the device, the front and rear surfaces are very reflective and a fingerprint magnet. Thankfully, the 5-inch full HD display is crisp with rich colours and offers good viewing angles.

In terms of hardware, it uses MediaTek’s True octa core processor combined with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. Performance is as expected — butter smooth user interface and no issues in running hardware intensive games or full HD videos.

Wammy Passion X comes with a 13MP rear camera that is capable of recording full HD videos. In terms of photos, there is a heavy amount of noise visible — a major letdown. With a 2,500mAh battery, the smartphone easily lasted a full day. Overall, the WickedLeak flagship impresses on the performance and display. We still think the Micromax Canvas Knight is a better buy though.
