Dell to increase headcount at Gurgaon center

The Gurgaon center is the company's fourth customer contact center in India and the operations in the center began in June this year.

NEW DELHI: Dell International Services, the support arm of Dell, will increase the headcount at its Gurgaon customer care center to 2,500 from 800 currently in the next 12-14 months.
The Gurgaon center is the company's fourth customer contact center in India and the operations in the center began in June this year.
"We will increase the number of our employees in our Gurgaon center to 2,500 in next 12-14 months from 800 now and move to our new facility (in Gurgaon only) in next few months which is under construction currently," company's Managing Director Romi Malhotra told reporters here.
However, he declined to give any details on the investment for the center.
In the first phase, the new facility would cover an area of 300,000 sq ft, he said, adding that the area as well as the number of employees will grow depending upon the demand and requirements.
"The facility in future will have a capacity of about 5,000 people," Malhotra added.
The Gurgaon center currently provides technical support for Dell's customers in the US, Europe, Middle East and Africa and product sales to customers in EMEA, he said.
He said more processes would be added in the center after the shifting of operations to the new facility.
Dell currently employs over 12,000 people in India and plans to take this number to 20,000 in the next 2-3 years, Malhotra said.
India is the second largest employee base for Dell outside the US.
