Broadband service registers 33 per cent penetration

PUDUCHERRY: BSNL in Puducherry has registered around 33 per cent penetration in broadband segment in Puducherry.

BSNL Puducherry General Manager Marshal Antony Leo told reporters here today that there were 1.65 lakh land line subscribers and had a customer base of 1.06 lakh subscribers in mobile service in the union territory, he said.

BSNL had netted a profit of Rs 12.6 crore during 2009-2010 fiscal, he said.

He said BSNL's Puducherry unit had bagged national award for "best maintained telephone system" for the second successive year for the current year.
