Aircel, Airtel leading the charge to promote iPhone 4S

At midnight on November 24, 2011 (12am, Nov 25), select stores in major cities will open to sell the first units of the iPhone 4S to waiting customers.

NEW DELHI: iPhone fans in India will not have to wait too long to get their hands on the latest 4S this time. Apple has decided to launch the device in India barely two months after the international launch.

At midnight on November 24, 2011 (12am, Nov 25), select stores in major cities will open to sell the first units of the iPhone 4S to waiting customers.

Like with previous versions, Aircel and Airtel are leading the charge. Anticipating a rush, Aircel is also offering a pre-order on their website from November 18 onwards.

Both Airtel and Aircel have dedicated webpages promoting the iPhone 4S, though in what seems like an oversight, both do not make any mention of Apple's much-lauded personal assistant Siri.

It is important to note however, that unlike the iPad and Apple's range of personal computers, the iPhone does not come with an international warranty - the warranty is only valid for the country it was purchased in. So make sure that you buy an 'official' India unit with an MRP printed on it.

At this time, it is not clear whether Airtel and Aircel will be offering any special data plans or reverse subsidy offers for the 4S - but plans for the existing iPhone 4 are already in place, and if no new plans are announced, they will likely continue.
