Advantage Computers announces new smartphone series

NEW DELHI: Advantage Computers (Adcom) India today announced it a new range of smartphones, 1A-350, 2A-400, 3A-520 HD which is expected to be launched by September 2013.

ADCOM smartphones are based on Android 2.3.5 Ginger Bread, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 4.1 Jelly Bean and are loaded with latest innovative features and accessories, it said in a release, adding that the phones are prices in the range of Rs 4,500-8,000.
Verizon to participate in USD 10 bn US govt contract * Telecom services major Verizon today said it has been selected to participate in the US Department of the Interior's USD 10 billion 10-year contract to provide cloud and hosting services.

This is potentially one of Verizon's largest federal cloud contracts to date, it said in a release.

Verizon is one of 10 firms that will compete to offer cloud-based storage, secure file transfer, virtual machine, and database, Web and development and test environment hosting services, it added.

The company is also one of four selected to offer SAP application hosting services, it said.

Each of the 10 agreements awarded under the Foundation Cloud Hosting Services contract has a potential maximum value of USD 1 billion, it added.

The contract will enable the Department of the Interior to modernise the way it manages applications and stores data, and control costs through a reduction of its data centre footprint.

Rapoo appoints Encon Impex distributor for south India * Wireless IT products maker Rapoo has appointed Encon Impex as authorised regional distributor for South India.

Encon Impex has strong channel presence in big and small cities of southern region and would take care of educating the channel partners on the product lines, increasing the brand visibility, Rapoo said in a statement.

It will also provide logistical and administrative support for Rapoo in southern India, it added.

Rapoo has Savera Marketing Agency as regional distributor for East and North India, while Creative Peripherals & Distribution for West India.
